The word “agent” may be often misunderstood. The responsibility of a Registered Agent is to receive whatever important notices arrive for your company, and then deliver them to your company’s management. The registered agent is not your legal representative. It will not manage your business, stand on your place in legal disputes, nor does it have power to sign contracts or control any portion of your business. The agent does not act as your attorney, and will not complete tax returns or annual government forms for you, or review and advise you on what to do to about urgent court matters or legal issues. This is not the purpose of the registered agent.
